According to a report that was published on the official X account of PUNCH on Sunday, Nobel laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka has reacted after the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC banned popular song by Nigerian musician, Eedris Abdulkareem.

The song titled “Tell Your Papa” was banned from all broadcast medium across the country by NBC after it was described as an offensive content.

Reacting to the report, the Nobel laureate slammed the National Broadcasting Commission over its decision to ban the song. He said the commission should have also banned the person who sang the song.

The Nobel laureate stated that the decision to ban the song is wrong and does not strengthen democracy.

According to Punch, Wole Soyinka said that;

“It is not only the allegedly offensive record that should be banned, the musician himself should be proscribed. Next, PMAN, or whatever musical association of which Abdulkareem is member, should also go under the hammer”.
