Former Presidential adviser and Northern Elderstateman, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has dismissed claims that the north always gang up against the south amid the formation of a coalition against president Tinubu. According to his statements which were shared by VANGUARD, he pointed out that those who formed the coalition also cared for the south.
The coalition among opposition forces aiming to unseat president Tinubu has come under intense scrutiny from different quarters as many argued that Northern leaders always joined forces against a seating Southern president, as witnessed in the case of former president Goodluck Jonathan.
However, according to the former adviser to President Tinubu, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed who spoke during an interview on AriseTv on Monday, the general consensus was false and lacked credibility. He however, disclosed several reasons why a coalition was necessary.
The coalition, which was led by former vice president Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former Kaduna governor Nasiru El-Rufai among several other political heavyweights across the country joined forces under the platform of the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), a party yet to be approved by INEC.
According to Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the leaders of the coalition loved the south and never wanted the south to play second fiddle. He further dismissed the notions that a coalition was always formed when a Southerner was in power.

“They love the south too, they don’t want to be second to the north. They are there. It’s not every time that when a Southerner is there, there have always been talks about coalitions.” He said.
