During an interview with Arise Television, political analyst Chris Omofoma strongly criticised the recent defection of Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), calling it a betrayal of the people’s trust.
Omofoma argued that Governor Eno’s move disregards the mandate given to him by Akwa Ibom voters in the 2023 elections, where the APC was clearly rejected at the polls in favour of the PDP.
According to him, “To me, it feels like more of a survival thing. It’s a betrayal to the people of Akwa Ibom because the election he participated in in 2023 had the APC. APC fielded a candidate in that election, and the people rejected APC and gave it to PDP. Now, he’s rejecting the people who gave him the vote by abandoning them halfway and jumping ship by moving to APC. So I believe it’s for personal gains, and his motives are questionable.
