The Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has acknowledged the crucial support former President, Goodluck Jonathan provided for him during the political crisis with his predecessor, Chief Nyesom Wike.
He candidly stated that he typically prefers to avoid such occasions but felt compelled to be present out of respect for Jonathan’s significant contributions during challenging times. He recounted receiving a letter informing him of Jonathan’s attendance, which prompted him to cancel other commitments to ensure he could be there to welcome him.
He said in live coverage by Symfon from 4:35i, ‘I have to tell you the truth. I like avoiding this type of occasion, but I have no option. When I was told, and I got a letter that our daddy [Goodluck Jonathan] would be coming here, I had to cancel all other programs that I had, to be here to receive him and to honor him, because I know what role he has played amidst this crisis. It is not everything that I will tell you but he stood with us in our difficult period. So, the little I can do is to come to wait for him, and to receive him, and to share in this honor. So, Daddy, I welcome you, and I thank you for being here.”
