Amidst the ongoing conflict between the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the leadership of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and the administration of the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu that led to unprecedented strikes on Iranian nuclear and missile facilities, which reportedly killed senior military figures and nuclear scientists, Iran’s top diplomat at the United Nations issued a stern warning to the American Government, calling President Donald Trump’s recent comments on Israel’s conflict with Iran completely unwarranted, and vowing retaliation if Washington crosses a red line.
According to Anadolu English, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, Ali Bahreini while speaking during an Association of Accredited Correspondents at the United Nations (ACANU) media briefing in Geneva, emphasized that Iran’s military and political leadership would determine the appropriate reaction, accusing the American Government of enabling Israeli aggression, stressing that without the United States, the Israeli regime was nothing. He also claimed that President Trump’s administration provides military and intelligence backing for Israeli operations, and if Iran determines that the US was directly involved in attacks against its territory, they would start responding to the United States.
In his words, Ali Bahreini said “We are monitoring the remarks by United States officials, including the president of the United States. We consider them irresponsible. We cannot ignore them. We are vigilant about what Donald Trump is saying, we included it in our assessments. There is a red line. Once the red line is crossed, the response will come. Israel, without the United States, is nothing. Whatever Israel is doing is with the support, the military support, and the intelligence support of the United States. If it is concluded that the US is directly involved in attacks on Iran. We will start responding to the United States.”
The top Iranian diplomat, Ali Bahreini, went further to assure that any retaliation would be proportionate, and in compliance with international law, referring to the Iranian response to Israel’s unprecedented strikes on Iranian nuclear and missile facilities, which reportedly killed senior military figures and nuclear scientists. He also framed the current tensions as part of a forty-year American hostility toward the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the leadership of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, accusing the American Government of opposing Tehran’s resistance to arrogant policies.
