Former Anambra State governor and former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has raised fresh concerns over the worsening state of security across the country.

In a message shared on his X handle, he outlined ten major incidents that occurred between November 11 and 23, 2025, using them to highlight deepening failures in governance and rising threats to citizens.

Obi noted that the past ten days have been marked by turmoil, fear, and a breakdown of institutions meant to safeguard Nigerians. “Is Nigeria cursed, or are we the curse?” Obi stated.

He questioned why the nation continues to descend into chaos, stressing that the situation is not due to misfortune but the result of long-standing leadership gaps that have allowed criminality to flourish unchecked.

According to the timeline he presented, the disturbing chain of events began on November 11, when six senior directors from the Ministry of Defence were kidnapped along the Kogi axis—an incident that underscored how unsafe the country has become, even for officials responsible for national security.

Four days later, on November 15, a Brigadier General was murdered, amplifying concerns that both the armed forces and civilians are increasingly at risk.

The violence spread across different states. On November 16, 64 civilians, including women and children, were seized in Zamfara. The next day, 25 schoolgirls were kidnapped in Kebbi, and their Vice Principal was killed.

Worshippers in Kwara came under attack on November 18, leaving casualties and leading to the abduction of 38 people from a church. That same day, disturbances at the PDP Wadata Plaza headquarters raised further questions about the conduct of security agencies, while a separate incident at the All Nigeria Judges’ Conference cast doubts on judicial neutrality.

On November 19, soldiers heading to rescue the Kebbi schoolgirls were ambushed. The most devastating incident occurred on November 21, when more than 300 schoolchildren and 12 teachers were kidnapped from a Catholic school in Niger State.

Fresh attacks in Kaduna, Bauchi, and Borno on November 22 and 23, including the abduction of 13 female farmers deepened the national mood of despair.

In his message of comfort, Obi said: “To every Nigerian shaken in these past 10 days, my heart is with you. You deserve safety, you deserve peace. We deserve a government that values our lives above politics. Nigeria must rise again.” View, More,
