According to a report by The Times Of Israel, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has reiterated that Tehran has no interest in holding direct talks with the United States regarding its nuclear or missile programs, emphasizing that the country will not abandon its right to enrich uranium.
“We will never negotiate our missile program, and no rational actor would disarm. We cannot stop uranium enrichment, and what cannot be achieved by war cannot be achieved through politics. We have no desire for direct talks with Washington, but can reach an agreement for indirect negotiations,” Araghchi told Qatar’s Al Jazeera network.
His remarks come amid renewed international efforts to revive stalled discussions on Iran’s nuclear activities, which Western powers fear could lead to the development of atomic weapons. Iran, however, maintains that its nuclear program is entirely peaceful and designed for energy production and medical research.
Araghchi said Iran remains open to indirect negotiations to address global concerns about its nuclear work but warned that the country would not accept unreasonable demands. “We are ready to negotiate to remove concerns about our nuclear program and are confident in its peaceful nature. Reaching a fair agreement is possible, but Washington has proposed unacceptable and impossible conditions,” he said.
Tehran’s stance signals continued mistrust between Iran and the US despite attempts by European and regional mediators to bring both sides back to the negotiating table. The US has sought stronger restrictions on Iran’s nuclear activities, while Iran insists any new deal must include the lifting of economic sanctions imposed after Washington’s 2018 withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear accord.
Araghchi’s comments reflect Iran’s broader strategy of resistance and self-reliance, reinforcing that Tehran’s missile capabilities and uranium enrichment program remain central to its defense policy and national sovereignty. View, More,
