According to a report by The Times Of Israel on March 26, 2026, the head of Uganda’s military has indicated that his country could enter the Iran-Israel war if Israel appears to be on the verge of defeat.

“We want the war in the Middle East to end now. The world is tired of it. But any talk of destroying or defeating Israel will bring us into the war. On the side of Israel!” Muhoozi Kainerugaba tweets.

Last month, Kainerugaba announced plans for Uganda to erect a statue of Yoni Netanyahu, the brother of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was killed while leading an elite IDF unit during the 1976 Entebbe hostage rescue operation.

The remarks and past statements by the Ugandan military chief have drawn attention to Kampala’s positioning in relation to the ongoing Middle East conflict and its diplomatic ties with Israel.
