According to a report by Al Jazeera, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has warned Israel that any possible attack on Lebanon will have “serious consequences for Israel,” according to reports from Iranian state media. The statement came during a phone call between Pezeshkian and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron.
The warning follows Israel’s vow of a heavy response against Hezbollah for a rocket attack that hit a soccer ground in the Golan Heights on Saturday, killing 12 children and teenagers.
“Any possible Israeli attack on Lebanon will have serious consequences for Israel,” Pezeshkian is quoted as saying. He also expressed Iran’s willingness to improve relations with France based on “mutual trust.”
In his conversation with Netanyahu on Sunday, Macron emphasized France’s commitment to “everything to avoid a new escalation in the region by passing messages to all parties involved in the conflict,” according to the French presidency.
The situation remains tense as diplomatic efforts continue to prevent a wider regional conflict following the deadly attack in the Golan Heights. Iran’s warning underscores the potential for serious repercussions should Israel launch retaliatory strikes against Lebanon….Sêe_Morē
