Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, is accused of returning to office after a six-month suspension with a hostile attitude rather than a humble one, according to the National Good Governance Advocate.

The group is said to have accused Governor Fubara of preparing a coup against the administrators of the state, as demonstrated in a video that was aired by SYMFONI TV. The accusation was made during a news briefing. The aim of the governor to prioritise peace and reconciliation was previously announced by him. It is said that the propaganda and extortion carried out by his gang have harmed the reputations of President Bola Tinubu and Ibas Ibok, who is the sole administrator of the state.

Fubara had the intention of using the suspension as “a school of humility” to help him think things through and prepare ready to lead with less anger. This is what the group believes should happen.

The argument they were making was that “rather than getting ready to return to the fray armed with blackmail, propaganda, animosity, and recalcitrance against the very institution that preserved the peace of Rivers in his 6 months absence, governor Fubara has chosen to return to the fray armed with himself instead of with humility and repentance following his 6 months suspension.”

According to sources within the intelligence community, Fubara’s allies are spreading false information and purportedly preparing the ground for political unrest in the event that he is elected to the administration.

The group referred to this as “tragic,” and they emphasised that Rivers State requires peace rather than violence. Upon regaining control of state affairs, they pleaded with Fubara to do away with the politics of propaganda and instead behave in a manner that was modest and honest.
