The Labour Party has condemned the actions of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, accusing him of empowering individuals who challenge the legitimacy of President Bola Tinubu. Addressing a press conference, Labour Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, warned that such actions could fuel rebellion and destabilize the country ahead of the 2027 elections.

“The chairman even had the audacity to give audience to those group who believe Nigeria doesn’t have a legitimate president,” Arabambi declared during the event.

He stressed that the party’s structure cannot be used to support unlawful or unconstitutional methods of changing government. “We will never allow Labour Party to be used as a tool for rebellion and they should not present us as a rebellious group,” he said.

Arabambi emphasized the supremacy of the Nigerian Constitution, stating, “It is crystal clear here that constru not recognize any cate except one that is democratically elected… the con is supreme and his provision shall be binding force on authority and person throughout the federal of Nigeria.”

He also raised alarm about alleged threats from some party members. “If Ali a governor is threatening the executive of a party with dooms, does he want to burn down the party and put into a war zone as they threatened?”

Arabambi reiterated the Labour Party’s support for constitutional democracy and denounced attempts to delegitimize Tinubu’s administration. “Appointment being made by president is not illegal, he have been sworn, they have taken this matter up to Supreme Court. We must respect the certaintity of our judicial,” he said.

He concluded with a warning to those “not to be saying somebody is democracy ended in crisis – they are not our member.
