Sunny Sylvester, a well-known chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has openly criticized the early push for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term agenda. In an interview with Trust TV from 13:23, Sylvester questioned the rationale behind endorsing Tinubu for re-election when, according to him, there’s little to show in terms of performance so far.

He expressed disapproval of the endorsement granted to the president during the party’s last National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, saying such a move was premature and unmerited. Sylvester stressed that he would never have supported the endorsement if he were close to the presidency, citing the need for accountability over blind loyalty.

According to him, “If I were close to the presidency, honestly, I wouldn’t have given President Tinubu an endorsement during the last NEC meeting. No way, what has he done? With due respect. I went on air on different stations. I said, In my history, in my life, I’ve never seen a president campaigning for a second term from day one. They must have heard that; they had a meeting in Lagos, and the former governor of Ogun State, Segun Osoba, spoke and said, It’s not true.”
