Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, recently spoke on Arise Television about his simple lifestyle and leadership style when he was governor.
Obi said that before he became governor, Anambra State had always been full of political problems. He mentioned that former governors had constant disagreements and tension during their time in office. However, when he took office, he started managing things in an organized way, which brought peace and progress to the state.
He proudly said that he was the first person to be elected as governor of both the old and new Anambra State for two terms. According to him, under his leadership, Anambra started changing for the better. He even gave the state a new identity, changing its slogan from “Home for All” to “Light of the Nation.”
When asked about his personal life, Obi said he doesn’t live a flashy lifestyle. “In Lagos, I live in a rented apartment. In Abuja, most of the time I stay in hotels. But I have a home in Onitsha, where I always go back to,” he said. He added that he doesn’t own any personal houses in Lagos or Abuja and lives permanently in Anambra State.
He encouraged people to visit Anambra to see the changes he made during his time as governor. Obi also mentioned that he feels safe walking the streets there without security, which shows how peaceful the state has become.
