According to a report by Leadership News on Thursday, December 11, 2025, Senator David Mark, National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has described the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a political party where corruption, ticket trading, and manipulation of primaries determine leadership.
He made the statement on Wednesday in Asaba, Delta State, during the formal inauguration of the Delta State Leadership Management Committee (DSLMT) at the party’s new state headquarters, Mark assured that such practices would not occur within the ADC.
The inauguration event was attended by top national leaders of the party, including Babachir Lawal, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and National Vice Chairman (North-East) of the ADC, Lawal represented the national chairman during the event and played a key role in presenting the party’s expectations to the new state committee.
Usani Uguru Usani, National Vice Chairman (South-South) and former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, also attended the event, other notable attendees included Bolaji Abdullahi, National Publicity Secretary and former Minister of Sports, and Olorogun Great Ogboru, a former governorship candidate.
During his address, Lawal emphasized strict adherence to the ADC Constitution and operational guidelines, he outlined the responsibilities of the DSLMT, focusing on transparency, fairness, and accountability in party activitiese stressed that the committee must ensure that internal party processes are free from manipulation and undue influence.
Lawal warned against corruption and the trading of political tickets, highlighting these practices as common in other parties, including the APC.
He explained that winning a primary in some parties does not guarantee the candidate’s name will remain due to interference at higher levels, he assured members that the ADC operates differently and promised that party rules would be respected.
He said: “In APC, someone may win a primary, but another person pays money in Abuja and the name changes. It will not happen in ADC. Don’t waste your money or energy. Do the right thing, and the right thing will be done.
The national leadership encouraged the newly inaugurated committee to follow the party’s principles in all their activities, they reiterated that the ADC would maintain a fair and transparent process in leadership selection, avoiding practices that undermine democracy, the event concluded with a commitment to strengthening party structures in Delta State and ensuring that members carry out their duties according to the party’s established guidelines.
