In a recent statement on his official X account, Professor Pat Utomi, a well-known political economist, management expert, and former presidential aspirant, has voiced his concerns about the current state of Nigeria’s leadership.

He compared the current policy errors to those of the former president, Olusegun Obasanjo’s regime.

“Amazing that the more I see policy errors of judgment the more it emerges that Gen Obassnjo with all his own challenges is emerging as the greatest man at the top in Nigerian history. What we need now is a modified OFN which he introduced in less threatening circumstances than today’s existential crisis. In the same manner the ‘low profile’ he turned to is the prudence we desperately need now. In and out of office Obj is now standing head and shoulders above the others. Statesman, patriot, policy champion and Uniter,” Pat Utomi wrote.

Professor Utomi highlighted the need for a modified version of Obasanjo’s Operation Feed the Nation (OFN) program.

He mentioned that Obasanjo introduced OFN in less threatening circumstances compared to today’s existential crisis.

Utomi underlined the relevance of OFN in addressing current challenges.

He praised Obasanjo’s approach to governance, noting that his low-profile strategy was marked by carefulness and caution.

Utomi also praised Obasanjo for his enduring influence both in and out of office.

This statement by Professor Utomi reflects a growing sentiment among some Nigerians who believe that past leaders, despite their flaws, had more effective policies than current ones…..Seë_Morë
