Prof. Okey Ikechukwu, the chairman of the National Sub-Committee for the Burial of the late President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has highlighted the significant contributions he made when he was alive.
In a video shared by Arise TV from 3:24, Okey said that when Imo State’s airport was being constructed, the people of Imo State contributed money, with some giving as little as 3 naira and 50 kobo. He said this fundraising effort was led by Evan Enwerem, and Chief Iwuanyanwu personally contributed a substantial amount of 2 million dollars of his own funds.
Okey emphasized that this contribution was remarkable, especially considering how young Iwuanyanwu was at the time. He said this example shows what youths are capable of achieving, and is why the national burial committee believes Iwuanyanwu should be remembered as a model for young people
In Ikechukwu’s words: “The Imo airport today was built by Imo people who contributed 3 naira and others who contributed 50kobo at that time. The committee was headed by Evan Enwerem. But Chief Iwuanyanwu contributed 2 million dollars of his own money. Go and check at that time and check how old he was”
