Chief Ayiri Emami, businessman, philanthropist, is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, during an interview with The Nigerian Tribune correspondent, appraised the Bola Tinubu administration, dismisses the revived Action Democratic Congress (ADC) as no threat to a fresh mandate for the incumbent President.
When he was asked during the interview what were his expectations from Bola Tinubu for the entire South-South region, Chief Ayiri Emami stated that during the campaign, President Bola Tinubu assured them that he would see to the completion of the Omadina-Escravos road. Emami mentioned that he had met with the President several times to discuss the issue. He explained that the responsibility of the President was to supervise and ensure that the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and Chevron collaborate to execute the road project.
He also recalled that while campaigning, Tinubu had referenced the EPZ (Export Processing Zone) Ogidigben project, which was initiated during the Jonathan administration. Emami noted that the project had reached the stage of awarding the sand-filling contract before the change in government following the coalition that brought Muhammadu Buhari to power—an alliance that he and others had supported at the time.
Further talking, he said, “Immediately Buhari won, the money that was allocated to that place they use it for AKK pipeline. That’s why some of us today cannot just wake up and say we want to go and support the North, because a lot of us from the South joined to say we are one Nigeria, we didn’t like the way Jonathan was ruling.”
