Former Deputy Chief of Staff to President Goodluck Jonathan, Mike Oghiadomhe, has revealed how Adams Oshiomhole survived as Edo State Governor during his battles years ago.
Speaking at a political gathering, Oghiadomhe said Oshiomhole’s victory had nothing to do with APC’s power, but with Jonathan’s personal decision to stand behind him, even when PDP leaders resisted.
In his words: “I’m saying this, if Jonathan didn’t hold Oshiomhole that time, APC would have buried him.”
He added that governance is not about party ownership but about the people. According to him, Jonathan placed Edo people’s interest above partisan politics, and that was why Oshiomhole’s throne was secured.
Oghiadomhe didn’t stop there. He warned Deputy Governors that they cannot separate themselves from their Governors.
“If a Governor does well, you have done well. If he fails, you have failed too. You can’t dissociate yourself,” he said.
The former presidential aide urged leaders to always ask themselves one question before taking any decision: “Will this benefit the ordinary Edo man?”
His statement has now stirred conversations on how far Jonathan went to protect leaders he believed in, even when it went against his own party.
