A man identified as Obi Levi Obieze, who was recently accused of ritual killings and the kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl in Enugu State, has denied the allegations in a video circulating onlin frome 1:29.
The footage, shared by popular blog YabaLeftOnline, shows Obieze stating emphatically that he is not a native doctor contradicting earlier reports linking him to occult practices.
“I am not a native doctor. As I’m talking to you now, I’m homeless,” Obieze said in the video, visibly distressed. “I don’t have a shrine. People just see me and conclude things. I’ve been sleeping on the streets.”
The video has sparked widespread reactions on social media with many questioning the accuracy of the accusations against him. According to unconfirmed reports, Obieze was arrested following the discovery of a 13-year-old young girl in a pit, in his house which led to a community uproar and accusations of ritual activity.
In the video, Obieze claims he was falsely labeled due to his appearance and associations. “Because I know some native doctors doesn’t mean I am one of them,” he added.
As the investigation continues, human rights advocates have urged the authorities to ensure due process and avoid a trial by media or mob justice.
The case has highlighted ongoing concerns in Nigeria over ritual killings and the danger of false accusations. Many online users are calling for a transparent investigation and the protection of suspects’ rights until proven guilty in court.
Authorities have yet to issue a formal update on the status of Obieze’s case or the missing girl. The public awaits further information as tensions remain high in the local community.
