Sunny Moniedafe, a former chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Abuja, has cautioned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) about the rise of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its coalition of opposition figures, as reported by Leadership on Sunday, 6th July, 2025.

He warned that the 2027 general election could prove unfavourable for the APC if the party does not address the current sentiment of the nation.

Moniedafe, a former national chairmanship aspirant of the APC, conveyed that although he remains a party member, he has considerable concerns about the direction the APC is heading.

He urged the party leadership to take the opposition threat seriously and to refrain from relying on outdated strategies.

He conveyed that Nigerians are tired of hardship, hunger, and insecurity, and may choose a new path in 2027 if the situation persists.

He is convinced that only through rigging or manipulation can the APC maintain its grip on power in the forthcoming election if the existing circumstances continue.

Moniedafe conveyed that the North East zone, in particular, is yearning for authentic change.

He believes that the challenges in that region are pushing people towards supporting alternative political movements like the ADC. ‎

He expressed worry about the assurance shown by the ruling party, noting that the growing discontent among the populace could lead to a major political shift.

“I continue to be a member of the APC, but I encourage my party officials to proceed with caution.” Unless they possess a different agenda that includes manipulation, they will depart from the Villa by 2027.

“What instills such confidence in the APC while Nigerians are facing hunger, anger, and hardship?”

“I cannot comment on the other two Northern Zones, but in the North East, there is an urgent need for change,” he remarked.
