Dele Momodu had some very strong words for Nigerian governors, calling them “greedy,” “selfish,” and willing to act like “cockroaches” just to stay in power. He said he was very disappointed to see powerful governors bowing down to the president just to get political favors.

Speaking on News Central TV, he used the example of the former US President Jimmy Carter, who only served one term but lived a long and respected life, to make his point. He said that it is not necessary for every politician to serve two terms and that the dishonest methods being used to hold on to power are a shame to democracy.

According to Dele Momodu, he said, “With all due respect to the governors, we are a nation of docile people, and we are a nation of very greedy, very selfish people. How can somebody that God gave power now reduce himself to a cockroach before a fellow man because of power? And I see some of them, and I just shake my head for Nigeria. I’m happy that I’m already 65, so I’ve entered the retirement age… But to see governors groveling in front of a fellow man because of power… you want a second term. Jimmy Carter, I went to his museum in Atlanta, he had only one term as president of America. He lived to be 100 years. That’s what they call the value and the power of contentment. It’s not compulsory that Tinubu should do two terms.”
