Dr. Yehuza Getso, a security and intelligence expert, has stated that Nigeria’s fight against banditry is being hindered not by lack of capacity, but by negligence and corruption.
In a video shared by AIT from 1:11, Dr. Getso expressed deep frustration over the ongoing insecurity in parts of the country, especially in areas plagued by bandit attacks. He said the government and security agencies are fully aware of the identities and locations of the criminals but have failed to act decisively.
Dr. Getso emphasized that Nigeria’s terrain does not pose any real obstacle to security operations, and that the armed forces have the capability to reach any hideout. He blamed the lack of action on systemic failures and a lack of political will.
According to him, the situation is not about intelligence gaps but about deliberate inaction. He warned that unless corruption and negligence are addressed, banditry will continue to thrive.
His words,
“I said it yesterday and I’m going to repeat myself now, we know who are the criminals. We know where they are. We don’t have any hideout that cannot be reached. We don’t have any difficult terrains that our security personnel doesn’t have the capacity to go. There’s negligence, there’s corruption.” View, More,
