Senator Natasha Akpoti recently visited her hometown in Kogi Central to celebrate the festive period with her people. However, her arrival in a helicopter sparked conversations. Addressing the crowd, she explained how she could afford it.
In a video that was shared by Channels Television, Akpoti said she comes from a humble background, describing herself as a “poor Ebira girl” who grew up in Ihima. She admitted that hiring a helicopter was beyond her financial ability, but she credited her husband for making it possible. She said he has been her strong support system, providing encouragement and resources to help her fulfill her purpose.
During her speech, she also talked about the challenges she faced in returning home. She mentioned reports that gatherings and convoys would be restricted, which she believed were targeted at her. However, she insisted that she was not breaking any law, as she was only visiting her people to celebrate, not holding a political rally.
The senator emphasized the importance of faith and human support, saying that while she puts God first, He also works through people. She believes her husband’s support is part of God’s plan.
Akpoti concluded by affirming that Nigerians have the right to freedom of movement and association, and she was simply exercising hers.
