Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa and chairman of the PDP National Convention Committee, has responded sharply to demands from former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and his allies, as reported by Vanguard on Wednesday, 3 September, 2025.
Fintiri vowed that no faction would derail the party’s upcoming convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Speaking on the sidelines of the convention preparations, Fintiri said the party comes before personal relationships.
The governor stressed that disputes within the PDP should be resolved internally, not in the media.
His statements were a direct response to Wike’s camp, which issued a six-point demand ahead of the convention.
Fintiri assured members that the committee would conduct the convention fairly and transparently.
Every member who wishes to contest will be given an equal chance.
Candidates are expected to buy forms, submit them, and present themselves to delegates, allowing the process to reflect true democratic principles.
He warned against selfish interests and urged members to prioritize the party above personal ambitions.
The convention secretariat is now fully operational, and the committee has begun work to ensure a smooth, credible event.
Fintiri stated that the PDP remains united and committed to reclaiming national leadership.
He said the convention would demonstrate the party’s strength and readiness to take power, despite internal disagreements.
“I will not place our relationships above this party. Let us not take all our matters to the media. It is becoming too embarrassing.
If you are a party man, you settle issues within the party. We will not allow indiscipline and blackmail to derail this process,” he said.
