The Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC has reacted to the death of one of its officials, Aminu Sahabi Salisu.
This is coming after SAHARA REPORTERS reported that Josiah Ikechukwu Nnamdi allegedly shot and k!lled Salisu during a raid at his residence in Awka, Anambra state.
In a statement that EFCC shared on its official X handle on Sunday, the commission condemned several reports claiming that Ikechukwu committed the act for self defense. EFCC stated that it is not true.
The commission claimed that despite sighting the officers through the CCTV camera, Ikechukwu still fired shots which led to the death of Salisu. The commission stated that aside Salisu who died, another officer was also injured during the operation.
However, EFCC stated that Ikechukwu has been arrested by the police and he will be tried at the court of law.
Here is what EFCC wrote on its official X handle;
“However, Ikechukwu, who sighted the investigators through a CCTV Camera mounted at his doorpost and who also confessed sighting them, declined to open his door for the investigators who politely demanded entrance to his apartment.
“Defying all the introduction and physical sighting of the investigators, he resorted to firing shots at them and killed Salisu”.
