According to the report from SYMFONI TV, Former President Goodluck Jonathan has opened up about the betrayal he experienced in 2015, particularly from key members of the National Assembly, including Yakubu Dogara, the Speaker of the House of Representatives. In a candid reflection on the turbulent political landscape at the time, Jonathan described how political maneuvering and shifting loyalties within his party led to significant challenges for his administration.
Jonathan, while speaking about the period, recounted how some of the political forces aligned against him, making it difficult to advance key decisions. “So if you cannot take any decision that will help us in this country, then forget interfering. And I did not interfere in anything, and our leader played the key role there,” Jonathan stated, emphasizing his commitment to the country’s progress despite the mounting political pressures.
He went on to reflect on the fallout from the political upheavals, particularly in the National Assembly. “I’m happy that whenever people make reference to that conference, they say, Look, we need to visit it. We cannot just ignore it. Why implement it? But people knew, some people knew that towards that period, there was a lot of political turbulence in the country,” Jonathan continued.
His remarks highlight a difficult chapter in Nigeria’s political history, where betrayal and shifting alliances played a central role in shaping the course of the nation’s governance.
