Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai reportedly stated during an interview with Arise News on Monday that President Bola Tinubu stands little chance of securing re-election in 2027, suggesting that the president would be fortunate to even place third.

According to The Guardian, it was reported that El-Rufai was said to have attributed the growing public dissatisfaction with Tinubu’s administration to the country’s deteriorating economy, worsening insecurity, and lack of progress in infrastructure development. Although he supported Tinubu in the 2023 election, El-Rufai noted that recent polls indicate a significant loss of public confidence in the president.

He reportedly warned that, given the administration’s poor performance, President Tinubu may not even finish in second place in the next election and insisted that there is “no pathway to win” in 2027.

Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, who once supported both Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Ahmed Tinubu, now says that Tinubu’s government is even worse than that of Buhari’s government, despite earlier believing Tinubu would perform better.

he said, “If you asked me in 2022 or 2023 when we are campaigning that things will ever be this bad, I would, I would, I would say that you are, you are mentally ill.”
