In a video clip that was released by Channels Television, Nigeria’s Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, indicated that the National Anthem will build patriotism among Nigerians, thereby helping to solve the problem of insecurity.
In the clip, the Senator President said that “the other one on social impact is reverting to our own national anthem.” A lot of people were not aware that there was a panel made up of Nigerians that was set up to receive input from all over the world in 1959. So when people say we are bringing the colonial anthem, please look into the history of the “Nigeria, we hail thee” anthem.
He further added, “If we take to that national anthem, we probably will not have banditry today in Nigeria. Because if you take your neighbor as your brother, you will not want to kill him. If you take your neighbor as your brother, you will not want to go into the farm to behead your brother…..Sée Móre
