According to a report published by Nigerian Tribune on November 2, 2025, former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode has warned that Nigerians will resist any foreign military intervention after a recent statement by U.S. President Donald Trump instructing his War Department to prepare for possible action in Nigeria. The president’s post, which accused the Nigerian government of ignoring what he described as a “genocide of Christians” and suggested the U.S. could intervene militarily — drew sharp condemnation from Fani-Kayode on social media.

In a forceful response, Fani-Kayode accused foreign leaders of double standards and provocative rhetoric that risks stoking an international crisis. He stressed that Nigerians would not flee the country if threatened and would stand their ground, declaring, “My response to her was as follows. ‘You are right. They are evil and, if he carries out his abominable threat, there will be a war. We shall not leave the country but we will fight it out with them.’” He argued that attempts to label Nigeria with a genocide tag and to justify intervention on sectarian grounds are dangerous and self-serving, and urged Nigerians to reject external intimidation.

Critics say the growing rhetoric complicates diplomatic relations and could have serious implications for aid, security cooperation, and regional stability. Observers note that threats of punitive measures or military action from powerful states typically prompt urgent diplomatic exchanges and raise questions about sovereignty and the proper international response to internal violence.

Against this backdrop, many Nigerians and political figures are calling for calm but firm leadership at home. View, More,
