Senator Ali Ndume has praised former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a leader who gave his all to the country during his time in office.
In a video shared by TV Platinum, he emphasized that Nigeria would be in a far better condition if it had more leaders like Buhari.
“If this country had many of Buhari’s type, I would say we would have been better off,” Ndume said. “He was a very honest person and he gave out his 100 percent for this country.”
Ndume, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress and a vocal lawmaker in the National Assembly, noted that while Buhari may have faced criticism during his administration, his personal integrity and dedication to national service were never in doubt.
According to the Senator, the former president’s commitment to Nigeria’s progress was evident in the way he conducted himself in office, steering clear of personal aggrandizement and placing the nation’s interest above self.
“He didn’t steal, he lived a simple life. Whatever you say about his policies or his government, you can’t question his character,” Ndume added.
The lawmaker’s remarks come amidst growing debates about Nigeria’s current state and leadership direction. While some critics have accused the Buhari administration of economic mismanagement and insecurity, others like Ndume continue to uphold his legacy as one defined by discipline, integrity, and patriotism.
Ndume urged current and future leaders to emulate Buhari’s example by placing the interest of the people first and governing with sincerity and transparency.
