Reacting to Peter Obi’s claim that he was betrayed when Okonkwo left the Labour Party, Okonkwo firmly denied the accusation and stated that if there was any betrayal between them, it was Peter Obi who betrayed him. Expanding on his position, Okonkwo remarked that a politician who truly understands the workings of politics cannot be betrayed by anyone. He implied that Obi’s comments were more about deflecting blame than offering real insight into the situation. According to him, “Let’s put it this way: any politician that knows what he is doing cannot be betrayed by anybody. If there is anybody that betrayed the other, I can say it emphatically that Peter Obi betrayed me.”
