Hon. Ikenna Azomchine, the SouthEast coordinator of the Obidients movement, has issued a stark warning against any political arrangement that would see Peter Obi accept a vice-presidential position under Atiku Abubakar, citing concerns over regional power rotation.
Speaking on Trust TV from 49:28, Azomchine expressed his firm stance on the matter, invoking principles of regional equity in Nigerian politics.
“I’m saying that there is no need for a northerner to come in a southern presidency and want to cut it in half. Instead of that, Tinubu should remain where he is for a peaceful Nigeria,” Azomchine stated emphatically.
The political figure made clear he was speaking in a personal capacity, saying, “I am not speaking for anybody. I’m speaking for myself right now.”
In a direct message to Peter Obi, Azomchine declared, “I will not vote for Obi if he is going to deputize Atiku, I’m telling him now, he’s watching me. He should not even call, I won’t come.”
Explaining his reasoning, he added, “It’s a southern presidency. And in Nigeria, everybody has fair play share. Tinubu will remain in the presidency, and I will vote for him.”
Azomchine further outlined his preferred political timeline: “If it is Atiku, he should wait till when Tinubu is done for eight years.”
The coordinator also set expectations for Obi’s political challenge, stating, “If Peter Obi is not able to get Tinubu out of there, then Peter Obi has failed.”
The comments reflect deep concerns within some quarters of the Obidient movement about preserving regional rotation of power and avoiding political arrangements that could be perceived as undermining southern interests. See, More, Here>>>
