A video which was posted on the official X account of Peter Obi Grassroots Mobilization on Monday from 2:15, July 21, 2025, has captured the moment, Nigerian lawyer and former member of the Labour Party, LP, Kenneth Okonkwo was reacting to the comment that Edo state governor, Monday Okphebolo made about Peter Obi.

This came after Monday Okphebolo asked obi to get a clearance from security operatives before entering Edo state.

While speaking during an interview on ARISE NEWS, Kenneth Okonkwo described the statement as illegal and unconstitutional. He said the Nigerian constitution gives freedom of movement to everyone. He said a governor does not have the right to tell a citizen not to visit a state.

Okonkwo said if the former governor of Anambra state were a leader from either Yoruba land or Hausa land, Monday Okphebolo wouldn’t have made such comment.

According to Kenneth Okonkwo;

“Let me come in as a citizen from the Igbo extraction. I sensed tribalistic and ethnic bigotry in this governor.

If Peter Obi were to be a governor from Hausa land or Yoruba land, this governor will not dare make such statement”.
