Factional National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), Abayomi Arabambi, has taken a swipe at the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, alleging that his leadership would have been overly parochial if he had won the presidency.
Speaking in an interview with Channels TV from 19:14, Arabambi claimed Obi’s approach to governance would have been so narrow that even the nation’s capital might have been relocated to his home state. “Even if Peter Obi had become president of Nigeria, the fact remains that the capital would have been moved to Anambra—the capital of Nigeria would have been moved to Anambra,” he said.
According to him, the federal government under Tinubu has tilted appointments heavily toward certain regions. “Go and look at the Tinubu government. Look at how many people are from the southeast. If they do meetings, go and check how many people are from the south,” he argued.
Arabambi, however, stressed that Obi would have gone further than Tinubu, shutting out other regions entirely. “Peter Obi wouldn’t have appointed any minister from anywhere other than Anambra and Imo, and he wouldn’t have done that,” he added.
