Speaking about the state of democracy in Nigeria, Obi called for deeper discourse on opposition politics. “Well, you know, I want us to sit down one of these days and have a proper conversation about the opposition—how it can be effective,” he stated. He then delivered a pointed critique of the nation’s democratic structure, asserting that “democracy in Nigeria is faulty; it wasn’t designed to support the opposition.”

The former Anambra governor spoke candidly about the personal toll of being in opposition. “Oppositions here are actually in difficult positions. If I tell you what I face, what I go through, and what my family goes through, you wouldn’t even believe it,” he revealed, adding “It’s surprising I’m still standing and going around this country.”

Despite these challenges, Obi expressed his determination to persist. “But I’ve made up my mind: if this is the end for me, so be it,” he declared, demonstrating his resolve to continue his political journey despite the apparent obstacles.
