Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has shared his views on democracy, leadership, and life after power during an event that had former President Goodluck Jonathan and Bishop Matthew Kukah in attendance.

In a video shared by SYMFONI TV from 53.16, he expressed dissatisfaction with the way many African leaders remain in power for too long, stressing that governance is never something one person can finish. He explained that leadership is a continuous process where one government leaves and another continues the work, but the country itself, which he described as God’s work, remains.

Obasanjo reflected on his life after leaving office and described it as enjoyable. He added a touch of humor, saying that if he were still in government, he would not have been able to share moments like this with Jonathan and Kukah. He also made a playful remark about heaven, saying he would still arrive there before the bishop despite Kukah being a man of God.

On the debate about whether he once wanted a third term in office, Obasanjo firmly denied it. He insisted that no Nigerian, whether alive or dead, could truthfully claim that he approached them to support such an agenda. He explained that if he had truly wanted a third term, he already knew the means to pursue it but never made such a move.

In his words, “If I had been there in Government, I wouldn’t be here with President Jonathan, and I wouldn’t have Bishop Kukah around me, and he is a bishop, but I’ll get to heaven before him.” See, More, Here>>>>
