Dickson Iroegbu, a PDP member, criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, stating that his leadership jeopardizes the party’s chances in the 2027 presidential elections.
In an ARISE TV interview From 11:55, he said that had Atiku endorsed Peter Obi, the party might have avoided its current dilemmas. He identified Atiku as the northern candidate obstructing the PDP’s future and mentioned that Atiku’s presidential ambitions during the last elections have worsened the party’s predicament. Reflecting on the 2018 primaries, he remarked on the flawed decision to zone the presidential ticket to the north despite the poor performance of the incumbent.
As the PDP strategizes for 2027, he emphasized the growing calls for new leadership and strong backing for candidates like Peter Obi, marking a critical time for the party to unify and reclaim its footing in national politics.
Here’s what he said,
“It was expected of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to show leadership and say, ‘It’s the time of southern Nigeria.’ If Atiku had done the right thing and said, ‘I’m supporting Peter Obi,’ we wouldn’t be here.”
