In a recent operation, the IDF’s Commando Brigade uncovered significant Hamas resources within the UNRWA headquarters in Gaza City. This raid was part of a larger initiative conducted by the 99th Division, targeting western and southern neighborhoods of Gaza City. Despite the UNRWA HQ not being in use for several months, it has previously been a site of contention; earlier this year, the IDF discovered an extensive Hamas tunnel network beneath the facility, according to Times of Israel.

During the latest raid, the IDF commandos encountered Hamas operatives attempting to escape the UNRWA compound. These operatives were captured, and the troops engaged in intense battles with entrenched Hamas gunmen. The operation also led to the discovery of a variety of weapons and tactical resources. Among the findings were parts of a Hamas drone, a command room used for surveillance of Israeli forces, and a cache of weaponry including rockets, machine guns, mortars, explosive devices, grenades, and drones equipped to drop bombs.

Further expanding their search, IDF commandos located an underground bomb-making laboratory in a nearby university building. This facility contained additional weapons and materials for constructing explosives, highlighting the extensive and clandestine efforts of Hamas to fortify their capabilities within civilian infrastructure.

The IDF’s uncovering of these resources at the UNRWA headquarters and the university building underscores the ongoing complexity and intensity of the conflict in Gaza. The operation not only disrupted significant Hamas assets but also revealed the militant group’s strategic use of civilian and educational facilities for military purposes….Seë_Morë
