Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has spoken after General Ibrahim Babangida expressed regret for annulling the June 12, 1993 presidential election. He mentioned that Babangida had accused him and other people who opposed the annulment of committing an offence at the time.

Speaking in a video shared by Channels TV, Falana said Babangida deliberately had him arrested, detained, charged, and paraded as a criminal. He said many people suffered because they stood against the annulment, yet Babangida had offered no apology for what happened.

In Falana’s words: “You said we committed an offence by challenging the annulment of the election, now 32 years later you are now saying ‘oh I regret that we annulled the election’. That means you knew. You deliberately arrested me, detained me, charged me and paraded me as a criminal only for you to say ‘we regret what we did’. No apologies.
