Rivers State elder statesman and Niger Delta activist Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe has alleged that suspicious contracts worth over ₦100 billion were awarded in the final weeks before sole administrator Ibok Ete Ibas left office.
Speaking during an interview with Symfoni TV from 5:32 , Chief Sara-Igbe claimed that substantial state funds were transferred to contractors just days before the administrator’s tenure ended. “Up to the 19th. Some banks were still transferring money—state resources. A man was here for six months, two weeks before he left, he started awarding bogus contracts,” he said.
He provided specific details about the financial transactions he claims occurred during the final days of the sole administrator’s tenure. “Between the 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th, a bank released over 100 billion in this state,” Chief Sara-Igbe stated.
He also criticized the judiciary’s handling of legal challenges to the emergency rule in Rivers State. “12 governors went to court to challenge the emergency rule. This is several months after, and the Supreme Court cannot say any word, cannot even hear them. So what country are we living in?” he asked.
The elder statesman condemned what he described as the suppression of political opposition in Nigeria. “So the way they are emasculating and muscling opposition in this country is not fair. Allow people to have their free will as democracy. Let people decide for themselves. This is what I want to do—not to threaten them with emergency rule, illegal emergency rule, not to bring people to loot resources,” he said. See, More, Here>>>
