Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has insisted he will campaign freely across Nigeria, brushing aside threats reportedly made by Yoruba activist Sunday Igboho against opposition figures planning rallies in the Southwest.

Speaking on Symfoni TV from 15:16, Sowore said he cannot be intimidated and is ready to face anyone who tries to stop him from campaigning.

He said:

“I will go anywhere in Nigeria to campaign, and I want to see him try to stop me. I am sure he will never try. Some of this is also psychological — they use these figures to intimidate you, so that you will not stand up to vote in 2027,”

Sowore also criticised Igboho’s style of politics, describing it as transactional and self-serving.

He added:

“I don’t know him too well, but I have always said that his brand of politics is what they call amala politics in Oyo State: it is chop-chop politics, it is the politics that in the Southeast they used to call ‘rub my back, I rub your back,'”

Going further, Sowore compared Igboho to past political figures whose influence faded after the regimes they supported collapsed. He mentioned names like Arthur Nzeribe and Daniel Kanu, noting how their political relevance declined over time. Read_More…
