Veteran Yoruba actor, Abija, has shared a heartbreaking experience he described as the saddest moment of his life. Speaking during an interview on FEELRIGHTNEWS TV on Friday, August 22, 2025, the actor narrated how he lost his wife on a festive Sallah day while he was away on a movie shoot.

“My saddest moment in life was a Sallah day that we are always happy to shoot movies because people will be at home to watch that year. Me, one woman that is dead now and my manager, Dele, were the ones that went to buy ram for Ileya, not knowing it was my wife that I would use for Ileya that day,” Abija said emotionally.

According to him, he had given his wife money to cook before leaving for the shoot, unaware it would be their last moment together.

“I gave my wife money to cook that day before leaving because the car that was taking us to the village was already outside. I left home and followed my colleagues to the village for the movie shoot. Before we got to the village, the messenger that came to tell me that my wife was dead arrived before us. And he told my manager, but nobody told me,” he recalled.

Abija said he noticed unusual conversations among his colleagues but was kept in the dark. “I just noticed they were gathering up and they were talking between one another. I wanted to be happy but I felt I don’t know what they were discussing. We did the movie shoot that day. We slept,” he explained.

It wasn’t until the next day that he was told to return home under the pretense that his wife was sick and needed surgery. “A friend of mine came to me and told me we have to go back to our town because my wife was sick. They wanted to do surgery for her and I have to sign some documents. I was very angry because my manager came late and I was like my manager should have signed on my behalf, not knowing they were deceiving me to go home that my wife was dead,” he said in pain.
