Usman Yusuf, former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, has spoken about the funeral of late President Muhammadu Buhari. He said he noticed how deeply affected President Tinubu looked during the funeral.
In an interview with Arise TV from 13:00, Yusuf also said that Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda was seen crying at the graveside. He said moments like this show that no matter how powerful or respected someone is in life, death reminds us that we are all human.
Yusuf said it was touching to see that Buhari, a former president, former Head of State, and a general, was buried in a simple white cloth, just as Muslims are traditionally buried. He said this should make everyone reflect on their lives, their actions, and the fact that one day, all human beings will face the same end.
In Yusuf’s words: “I hope President Muhammadu Buhari’s passing will be a lesson. I watched President Tinubu sitting there all shook up looking genuinely grieved. And the leaders there, our governor was weeping at the graveside. And that is what death is supposed to do for the living: remind us of who we are, remind us of our mortality. This was a former president, a former Head of State, a general being buried not in a golden casket but covered in white shroud just like Muslims do”
