A political leader, Aliyu, has spoken out in support of President Bola Tinubu, saying claims that Tinubu does not like the North are unfair and false. He made these comments during an interview on Channels Television from 6:13.

Aliyu said it was Tinubu who helped Muhammadu Buhari become president in 2015, even when many northern states did not support Buhari at the time. “My state, Jigawa, Kano and many other states did not vote for Buhari to be candidate,” he said.

“The same Tinubu that some people are insulting today worked hard, bringing people together from the southwest and across the country to support Buhari.”

Aliyu also shared a personal story to show Tinubu’s support. “I was given an aircraft by Fashola, I remember, to go and bring people from Jigawa for Buhari,” he said.

He added that it is wrong for some northern elites to now say Tinubu is against the North just because he is now president. “Buhari got elected with Tinubu’s help. Now because Tinubu is in power, people say he doesn’t like the North? That’s not true,” he said.

Aliyu’s comments come as some northern leaders complain that Tinubu is not doing enough for the region. But Aliyu said people should remember how Tinubu supported the North in the past and not change the story now.

His message was clear, Tinubu played a big role in helping the North win the presidency in 2015 and it is not right to now accuse him of turning against the region.
