Veteran actor and film producer, Professor Sola Fosudo, has reflected on the stark contrast between his earnings in Nollywood and his early salary as a university lecturer.
Speaking in a recent interview with Oyinmomo TV, the veteran entertainer and scholar shared insights into his journey from the limelight to academia.
Professor Fosudo, a lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, recounted the financial sacrifices he made when he transitioned from acting to teaching.
“When I was going to university, I did True Confession and Glamour Girls. I have done movies that have gone viral. I was collecting ₦100,000, ₦150,000, and ₦200,000 (as an actor). At the university, my salary was ₦5,000. God had a mission of placing me there,” he stated.
Despite the massive pay cut, Fosudo has no regrets. With over 31 years of experience in lecturing, he emphasized the long-term fulfillment that comes from nurturing future talents.
“My students are now bosses in London, Germany, France, and all over. They are also progressing in their field, it’s a pride to us. When I travel, some of my students will buy me tickets just to spend some time with them. They organize programs to celebrate us, what gains does one need more than that?” he added.
