Publisher and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain, Chief Dele Momodu has disclosed his Edo State roots despite being raised in Ile-Ife, highlighting his journey from poverty to prominence.

In an interview with News Central TV from 46:23, Dele Momodu shared details about his humble beginnings and recent achievement of fulfilling a decades-old dream. “I was born very poor. I lost my father at the age of 13 in 1973. He was buried just on a bare land where there was nothing,” Momodu revealed.

The media personality described a significant personal milestone that he had managed to achieve: “Yesterday, after dreaming for about 50 years, I was able to present a bungalow to my family.”

He explained his geographical and cultural journey, stating, “I was born and raised in Ile-Ife, my father never took us home and we are from Edo State. But I went home and I discovered my roots on my own.”

He identified that his connection to his ancestral homeland yielded tangible results. “When I went back to trace my roots, they gave me land, and I struggled to build something on it. My father didn’t have anything,” he said.

Reflecting on his experiences, Momodu contrasted his efforts with those of political figures: “That is the kind of legacy I have. That’s why I’m worried that our politicians who have everything, they do so little with it. But we will continue to pray that God will help them.” He argued that the lack of contentment by elite class in Nigeria is the reason for continuous accumulation of illegal wealth.
