The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Kingsley Moghalu has explained how some fraudsters almost scammed him by hacking his Nigerian WhatsApp phone number.

He made the statement on his official X handle on Wednesday. In the post that he shared on his official page, he said it was two-factor identification that helped him. He said if people receive texts purporting to be from him and asking for money, they should ignore the message.

He said henceforth, he will no longer answer telephone calls from numbers that he can’t identify with.

Here is what Kingsley Moghalu wrote on his official page;

“I was almost scammed by identity-theft fraudsters who tried to hack my Nigerian phone number WhatsApp recently. Thank God for two-factor identification. Even then, if, per chance, anyone receives texts purporting to be from me and asking for mone or other commitments, ignore it. As a new rule I will no longer answer telephone calls from numbers I can’t identify with some familiarity. If it’s genuine and important, send a text. Accessibility as a public figure (but a private citizen) must be counterbalanced with self-protection”…..Seë_Morë
