The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, Solomon Fabiyi, for allegedly attempting to use his seven-year-old nephew, Jomiloju, for a money ritual.

Fabiyi, who was paraded by the police, confessed that he planned to use the boy for ritual purposes so he could become wealthy and fund the child’s education.

In a video posted by TVC News from 0:12, Fabiyi admitted to journalists that a herbalist had instructed him to find someone for the ritual. According to him, the herbalist assured him that the boy would not die but would only fall seriously ill as a result of the ritual.

“I want to use the boy for ritual. The herbalist told me that he won’t die after using him, but he will get sick. However, I already promised that after using him for ritual and start cashing out, I will send him to school and cover all the expenses,” Fabiyi confessed.

When asked if he understood that his actions were wrong, Fabiyi admitted guilt but insisted that his intention was not to kill the boy. “They said he won’t die after using him for ritual. Also, I decided to use him for ritual because I’ll have money to send him to school and cover all the expenses,” he stated.

He further claimed that his decision was influenced by a spiritual problem. According to him, he had been hearing strange voices urging him to go through with the ritual.

“Since last year, some strange voices have been speaking to me in my mind, saying that I should use the boy for ritual. I’ve been trying to refuse, but the people keep speaking to me that I should use him,” he added.
