In a recent interview with Trust TV, Professor Kailani Mohammed, a close associate of former President Muhammadu Buhari, voiced his deep disappointment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for failing to acknowledge those who played crucial roles in securing his 2023 electoral victory. Mohammed recounted that on the eve of the election, he had confidently assured Tinubu of his impending triumph. Despite the accuracy of his prediction and the efforts of many who supported the campaign, he lamented that their contributions have since been overlooked and forgotten.
Reflecting further, Mohammed recalled his final conversation with Tinubu before the election, during which he requested just one thing in return for his support. According to him, Tinubu responded with a laugh and said they should focus on winning the election first.
According to him, “For example, on the eve of the election, I was at Asokoro with Dr. Yahaya Imma to see the president, and we saw him. I told the president, sir, you are going to win the election, but I want one thing from you. He said, what is it? I said, sir, we the Nupes colonized the Yorubas. Tinubu Square is for the Nupes; they know it—it is in history. He laughed and said, engineer, stop writing petitions, let us win the election first. I told him he was going to win the election; he won the election. Nobody is talking about us.”
