Former Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, has shared a powerful message he gave to the late President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the 2019 elections. Speaking in an interview with Trust TV, Dalung revealed that in 2018, he had a dream about Buhari’s future in politics.

“In that dream, I saw him fighting alone against a great army,” Dalung said. Disturbed by the vision, he visited President Buhari and asked if he planned to run again in 2019. Buhari didn’t answer, but Dalung offered his honest advice.

“I told him, I wouldn’t want you to contest in 2019. Instead, retire and be the Mandela of Nigeria,” he said, referring to Nelson Mandela, who stepped down after one term to become a global symbol of peace and leadership.

Dalung warned that although Buhari might win if he ran, the battles ahead would be very tough. “The fight after winning would be so intense that if you’re not careful, you could be reduced to just a president inside the villa with no real power.”

He also warned about how people, especially the poor who once loved Buhari, might feel in the future. “When you hand over in 2023, at the mention of your name, the poor whose political capital you are, will be crying that, ‘Oh this man was our president, but he left legacies of pain.’
